Choosing a safety box in Malaysia comes down to two things before price: weight and how it is installed. A light safe that is not bolted down is just a container — a thief carries the whole thing out. This guide covers the types, the weights that actually matter, current market prices, and what to ask about fire resistance.
A-Class is the safety box brand of Aik Ta Enterprise Sdn. Bhd., a hardware wholesaler in Semenyih, Selangor since 2005. We supply the safety box range at wholesale through hardware shops — the full list of codes and sizes is on the Safety Box category page.
| Type | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Small electronic safe (hotel style) | Hotel rooms, offices, cash drawers | Password opening; light, must be bolted to the structure |
| Fingerprint safe | Homes, shops | Fingerprint plus password; medium to large sizes |
| Safe with jewellery drawer | Homes | Separate internal drawer for jewellery |
| Temperature & humidity display safe | Collections storage | LCD shows the temperature and humidity inside the safe |
| Fire-resistant tier | Document storage | Ask for the written rating before buying — see the section below |
The most common mistake in buying a home safe is buying one light enough to be carried out of the house. An unbolted, lightweight safe is a container, not security.
Across the A-Class range, weights run from 2.3 kg for the smallest electronic safe to 95 kg for the largest fingerprint model — a very wide range, and the difference is not just size. Match the weight to the actual threat:
For shops: sell the anchor bolts at the same time as the safe, and ask the customer which floor the safe is going to. A 95 kg safe up the stairs of a house with no lift changes how delivery is arranged — tell us the floor and lift access when ordering.

| Type | Typical retail range | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Hotel-style electronic safe | RM350–RM395 | Size, keypad type |

| Fire-resistant safe | RM1,260–RM1,340+ | A fire rating roughly doubles the price of an equivalent unrated model |

Fire resistance is a tested and certified property, stated with three things at once: the test standard, the protection duration, and the class of contents protected. Paper burns at a far lower temperature than the melting point of hard drives or digital media, so a rating for documents does not mean the digital media inside is also safe.
We do not publish a fire-resistance rating for any A-Class model here. If a customer is buying specifically for fire protection, ask us in writing about the model concerned and we will confirm what documentation exists, rather than answering in general terms. A safe without a stated rating should never be sold as fire resistant — that is our advice to every shop that carries this range.
Dimensions and weights from the A-Class catalogue, to help match a safe to the available space. All models run on four AA batteries.

The measurements above are external. Subtract roughly the wall thickness of the safe for the internal space, and measure door openings and access routes before sending a 65 kg-plus model upstairs.
It depends on type and size. In an August 2026 retail survey of Malaysian safe specialists: hotel-style electronic safes ran about RM350–RM395, fingerprint safes RM650–RM1,200, and fire-resistant models RM1,260–RM1,340 and up. As a rough guide, fire resistance roughly doubles the price of an equivalent model without it. The actual retail price is set by the shop that sells it; A-Class supplies shops at wholesale, quoted per enquiry.
For real security at home, weight is the first specification to check, not price. A small 2–8 kg safe can simply be carried out by one person — it keeps documents away from casual eyes, not from a thief. Safes that are genuinely difficult to remove start at around 45 kg, and anything lighter than that should be bolted to the floor or wall.
We do not publish a fire-resistance rating for any model. Fire resistance is a tested, certified property — it is stated with a standard, a protection duration (for example 30 or 60 minutes) and the class of contents protected. If your purchase is specifically for fire protection of documents, ask us in writing about the model concerned and we will confirm what documentation exists rather than answer in general terms. A safe without a stated rating should never be sold as fire resistant.
A password is easier to share between family members or staff, and nothing can fail to scan. A fingerprint is faster for daily use and there is no code to forget or shoulder-surf. Both types in the A-Class range run on the same AA batteries, and the fingerprint models also accept a password as a second method — so the choice is more about who uses it every day than about security.
The electronic and fingerprint models in this range run on four AA batteries that are replaced from outside or through a temporary power supply, and every unit ships with a mechanical key or master code as an emergency way in. The most useful advice a shop can give a customer: change batteries on a schedule rather than waiting for them to go flat, and never keep the only mechanical key inside the safe itself.
Two different things. A safe at home opens any time with no recurring cost, but it is only as strong as its installation — unbolted, it can be carried away. A bank safe deposit box is rented, limited to banking hours, but sits inside a vault. Many buyers end up using both: land titles, deeds and rarely-touched jewellery at the bank; passports, document copies and petty cash at home.
